alsa mythtv woes [SOLVED]

Heya,

I've been trying to get alsa working with mythtv for a while now. xmms etc work fine.
So I've got the sound device as ALSA:default and the mixer as default and I get
mixer set channel 0 err -22: invalid argument
mixer set channel 1 err -22: invalid argument

If I try and use OSS emulation through /dev/mixer I get

ALSA lib control.c:654:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL /dev/mixer
Mixer attach /dev/mixer error: No such file or directory

Even though my /dev/mixer is there and has all permissions.

So i was bloody stuck. So I just unchecked the option "use internal volume controls" on the sound configuration screen in mythtv and viola. Sound.

Just thought I'd document it somewhere because I couldn't find the mixer set channel 0 err -22 problem anywhere
