*massive bump* (2 years worth of it )
I think this is the reason I can't get any sound out of my PC. /etc/init.d/alsasound wants:
Code: |
# We want to ensure snd-ioctl32 is loaded as it is needed for 32bit
# compatibility
DRIVERS="${DRIVERS} $(modprobe -l | sed -n -e '/snd.ioctl32\./ s:\/.*\/\(.*\).ko:\1:p')"
|
Now I can not find this module for love nor money! I have looked carefully through make menuconfig (IOCTL32 finds nothing nor does snd_ioctl32)
I even upgraded to kernel 2.6.21 (Which uses the same version of ALSA drivers as ~x86 alsa-driver which DOES have acore/snd-ioctl32)
I KNOW the module exists but where in the world does it live? Should I file a bug and say its missing from gentoo-sources? (I'd find a way of inserting it and compiling a custom vanilla kernel but I am not 100% aware of exactly how gentoo-source kernels are patched (IE with what I can do the actual patching)
Help please? _________________ Cfer (AKA Dave)

It looks like it was replaced somewhere between 2.6.10 and 2.6.20 (I haven't been able to track down exactly where) For legacy reasons (IE users working on kernels older than 2.6.10) it was Code: | #SND_GAMEPORT is not set | - I haven't found where that is on
In the latest alsa-driver (At time of writing version 1.0.14_rc2 1.0.14_rc3 on ~x86)a new module was being used (SND_PAGE_ALLOC - can't find this in make menuconfig yet) which seems to suffice. AFAIK this could be marked as solved now - could an Admin/Mod kindly do so if they feel appropriate _________________ Cfer (AKA Dave)
