|
|
Whenever I play games the require a bit of extra power (UT2004) there is a noticable amount artifacts on the screen. I'm not overclocking my video card, or my cpu. Is it possible for my card to overheat with the stock fan?
Also, this seems to mostly be a problem on Linux. On WinXP I play Toca Race Driver 2 and there are little or no artifacts.
Is this a for-sure problem with heat? If so, would buying a cooler for it definatly remove the artifacts?
Thanks |

Hi
i don't know your specs, but check PSU - 12V rail drops may cause graphics chip wierd behaviour, also check wheter cooler is firmly fitted on chip and what is it's temp.

Hi
temps you can always check manually
as software solutions you have to enable Device drivers / [] I2C support in your kernel config, emerge lm_sensors
see their homepage http://www2.lm-sensors.nu/~lm78/ for configuration details (you have to know which monitoring chip you have at your mobo). When enabled - gkrellm shows sensors in config dialog just have to pick which you want to display
As for graphic card not every model supports temp measurment - I've never done such thing, I'm pretty sure many nVidia cards have embedded temp monitoring accesible trough I2C bus, as for ATI - never tried it. _________________ “You know all those extra lines of code that we sometimes refer to as bloatware.
