i use the gentoo livecd splash, which like the others can be modified using the /etc/conf.d/splash options. most of the messages can be changed:
Code: | # boot/reboot/shutdown message overrides
SPLASH_BOOT_MESSAGE="Booting the system"
SPLASH_REBOOT_MESSAGE="Rebooting the system"
SPLASH_SHUTDOWN_MESSAGE="Shutting down the system"
|
however the very first message, "Initializing the kernel..." isn't listed. can anyone tell me how to change this message? i've checked the images in the splash theme directory but it's not in there...a text search for "Initializing the kernel..." seems to hit the splash executables...does that mean i have to modify the source code and recompile? i haven't done that before, so a quick list of instructions would be helpful (do i just unpack a distribution file, make the changes and zip it up again?). |
