|
|
As I stated in a semi-related post, I did something really stupid (CONFIG_PROTECT="" in my /etc/make.conf) and it seriously messed up my gnome.
I finally got X up and running, and can get into KDE, and Fluxbox, but evolution and galeon are both segafaulting, whilst opera and mozilla run with no difficulty.
The evolution error is:
Quote: |
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.2.1
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.0.12
libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
evolution-shell-CRITICAL **: file e-splash.c: line 354 (e_splash_new): assertion `splash_image_pixbuf != NULL' failed.
Gtk-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `GtkObject'
Gtk-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `GtkObject'
|
Suggestions?
If I need to rebuild/compile gnome, how do I go about forcing it to start from scratch?
edit After a lengthy koffice update, I'm going to emerge galeon again. _________________ Toast

Just in case anyone is curious, i did the following
Quote: | # emerge -C libpng
# emerge libpng
|
and now Evolution is working.
Galeon, after a fresh emerge is working. minor problems with a lack of spinners, but nothing I can't deal with at a later time.
The sad thing is, if I just paid more attention to the error message rather than just go glassy eyed at the error, it was pretty darn clear. _________________ Toast

I had exactly the same problem and that saved me some time; here's something in return - to fix the spinner problem, just and it should work just as it did in the first part. |

things are still borked on my system. neither gnome or kde will launch. i can get into flux box, which is all i wanted anyhow...but now opera is complaining, so i'll need to re-emerge that too. half consider starting over from scratch
thanks for the imlib tip _________________ Toast

Thanks spider, re-merging kdelibs and qt as stated in the bug listing. will I have to go through this with every emerge -u world that includes libpng updates? _________________ Toast
