i've got two hds : one for gentoo and the other for windows with a fat32 fs. since an error ocurred running windows, i'm neither able to start windows by lilo nor to mount it in linux. when i try to mount, i get following message:

mount : wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdb1,
or too many mounted file systems.

i tried
mount /dev/hdb1 /mnt/Windows and
mount -t vfat /dev/hdb1 /mnt/Windows
withe the same result.

the hd is found by the bios, but i'm unable to mount. the great problem is, there's a lot of importent stuff ( work, university, ...) which i need. that's why i don't want to format the hd. is there a way to repair the fs without losing data?

unfortunelty I am going to have to say the Filesytem is fucked.
If windows cant boot it shows something is wrong, but for the RAW FS not to be mountable by linux (I take it you could mount before) leads me to thing Windows fucked it for fun

right, worked very well for about a year. perhaps some fs informations are lost, but is it possible to fix?
