I am trying to install Gentoo from CD-ROM disc. I have set BIOS to boot from CD-ROM and I am getting the following error
- Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key -.
I have tried using both install discs but get same error.
I can boot using fedora but would like to use Gentoo.
Is this a BIOS (ie BIOS cannot read Gentoo) problem and is there an alternative method?
I have flashed latest BIOS from ASUS
Thanks

What iso files did you download?
Have you checked the md5 sum's of them after the download?
How have you burned the iso files?
Don't just burn the file on a CD, you have to burn it with the burn image option of your favorite software. (I don't expect you to be an idiot, there are just many ppl who have done that mistake with the iso)
If it's really the case that only the gentoo CD won't boot then you can always use a different LiveCD to install Gentoo from.
Like Knoppix or.... whatever you prefer.
you basically just need something running from where you can chroot. |
