I tried unpacking stage3.bz2 from the universal cd-rom iso and in failed, the package was corrupted. So I downloaded it directly from the internet (wget ...), compared it with its MD5 file and it didn't match! Got this issue with several other mirrors!

My internet connection is working properly and i don't think that the security issue we've got with some 2005.1 stages has anything to do with it because it get the error while unpacking.

Is it corrupt? Or am I just picking out all the wrong mirrors :S

Try downloading it directly from gentoo.osuosl.org, which is the server that will most likely have a good copy, since most of the Gentoo infrastructure is located there. ;)

If even the download from OSUOSL is corrupt, it might be your RAM at fault. I've seen corrupt downloads due to bad RAM before. To test RAM, boot the install CD with the "memtest86" option at the "boot:" prompt.
