I just bought a shiney new ASUS A8N-SLI Premium and I happily using it. When I was hooking it up I noticed it has two ethernet cards, one Marvell and the other nForce4. Im currently using the Marvell one because it has better Linux support but I do sometimes need to hook up an additional computer in my room. Is there a way I can let the nForce4 ethernet card work as a hub for me?
Thanks

What do you mean by 'ethernet hub' ? You mean like a router? What's the main purpose for connecting the other computer to the main one? _________________ gentoo.ro |

So you have two ethernet cards? There would only be two ethernet ports. You use one for your internet, and you want the second one to be a router? Well a router usually has 4 ports extra, to expand the internet to. Do you want to have your incoming ethernet work as a outgoing port on the second card? So you just hook up another computer to your second ethernet port and get internet. I do not know the answer, but I'm trying to help others help you. |

So , yes. You have to make your computer act like a router. I don't know to tell you the exact syntax , but it's just about 1-2 iptables lines to acomplish that. You can also bridge the two eth cards (emerge bridge-tools && man brctl ), to make your two nics have the same network class (like 192.168.0.*) _________________ gentoo.ro |
