Looking over my browser's shoulder

I want to download a password-protected site, so I can read it offline on my PDA. Towards this end, I'd like to see what cookies and headers my browser sends when it asks for the site. What's the best way to do this? I suppose I need a packet sniffer, but I don't want to read lots of manuals and sort through an ocean of hex packet data unless I really have to.
