Hi,
I just migrated my system to a new harddisk like told in: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-95889-highlight-move+system.html (by ctford0)
now after i boot i get the following error:
Code: |
Booting initramfs
chroot: cannot execute /bin/sh no such file or directory
Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempt to kill
|
thats it.
Might it be possible that I have to recompile my kernel while chrooted into the new system?

I personally have never tried migrating data from one hard disk to another. However, my first guess here would be to throw in a gentoo live CD and mount your partitions on the new drive manually to ensure everything is in order. If everything looks in order, try chrooting into that environment and setup both your bootloader and fstab again. You could compile your kernel to be placed back into your new /boot directory as well.
*shrug*
If you try that, let me know what happens. |
