Hi Everyone!

I am still trying to configure my X properly but I haev one roblem:
I don't know the vertical Sync Rate of my Monitor and all that stuff. I mean, HOW SHOULD I??
I know I have a 15 inch widescreen with a max resolution of 1280 x 800 and a refresh rate of 50 hertz. That would be the standart and cheapest screen of the Inspiron 6000.

So could anyone PLEEEZE helpme, because I don't know where I could possibly get this info!

And I have a radeon X300 Graphics Card. But this is not listed in the ati selections from which I can choose. So what do I choose instead?

And I could not use any other xorg.conf file from other people because they usually have that graphics onboard.

thanks, Boris

i'm not familiar with notebooks (I asume it is one) and even less with lcd-monitors, so I don't know exactly how to specify these settings.

I'll also comment a little on your post in the X.org-lockups.

first try to use the vesa-drivers instead of ati and 1024x768 resolution
also try to uncomment the lines that load the dri and glx module.

If you search in google for 'xorg 1280x800' you'll notice that there are many people having problems with similar displays. It seems it is more the videocard that is the problem.
you migth find some usefull info here:https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=300
