|
|
I am installing Gentoo as a server at home at the moment. I am at work and would like to be able to SSH into the install to complete it remotely. When i left, the pc was running genkernel.
First thing, since the cd got past the Stage2 base Pentium3 install, Is sshd installed? If not i'll have to emerge that before i even have my wife try to start this.
Secondly, Once i verify sshd exists. All my wife has to do is run /etc/init.d/sshd start and i'll be able to ssh into the install?
Once i am able to ssh into the install, can i complete the install from the terminal window or do I have to switch to the terminal i was doing the install on.
Thanks,

If you have convienently started the SSH deamon and have changed the root password and know the ip then it should be fine .

You have to start sshd like: /etc/init.d/sshd start and set the root password with: passwd
Then you can remotely install your Gentoo. You can do that in separate terminal, but I suggest to use screen! |
