|
so now I got bored of increasing volume every time I boot so I emerged the alsa-utils and did 'rc-update add alsasound boot' as it told me to, but I don't know how to configure the alsa config?? I then did modules-update, but he doesn't save my mixer anyway :S
I have alsa configured into the kernel so why would I need to add alsasound into boot runlevel, and doing the module-config part anyway??
sound works great, I just want to save the mixer settings damn it...
what's the easiest way to go?
why don't they make it easy to save/restore mixer settings? such a basic thing should come included without having to set it up manually |

You need to configure alsa and start it for the same reason you need to start networking. Things need to be configured. As for storing your values try:

well actually I don't need to configure alsa or put it in a runlevel like network, since It worked perfectly out of the box after compiling it into the kernel. Evertyhing I do now is ONLY to automaticly save/restore the mixersettings, and how compilcated would any sane person make this task?
I'm not at my linux box at the time but I will take a look at alsasound and alsactl later... |

Must not be many options like hardware mixing for your card then, I guess. Anyway, good luck B-) _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |
