|
|
Heya, all.
I recently got my hands on an "old" Plextor external SCSI CD-Writer that's connected to my computer through an Advansys SCSI-card.
I've compiled the module for it in the kernel, and it loads up w/out errors on boot, but now what ?
I've understood that you're to use devfsd for the device to load on Gentoo, but this is fairly new territory to me...
I've understood as much as that the device is connected to "0,4,0", but what do I need to put in devfsd.conf for it to load correctly so that I can use it for stuff like gcombust ?
Thanks in advance.... _________________ there are 10 kinds of people in the world -

Just open /etc/devfsd.conf in your favorite text editor. The comments are pretty thorough, and there are several lines that you need to uncomment and possibly modify. Do 'ls -l /dev/cdroms' first to look at the path to the device. It should be /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target4/lun0/cd and to write to it you will use 'generic' in the same path. If you use devfsd.conf to set permissions, don't forget to add your user to the cdrw group. |
