hi
I'am running gentoo 2005.0 liux-2.6.11. can I print on print on windows printer server (HP LaserJet 2550) under gentoo without samba.

Theoretically it should work since CUPS can cope with remote printers via IPP. Windows (at least XP and 2000) are IPP capable for older versions the IPP drivers could be downloaded.
I use a Gentoo Machine without Samba to print from a Windows machine. So why shouldn't it be possible the other way. Be sure to have port 631 open on your Windows machine and I would configure a RAW printer on Windows and install the printer driver on CUPS.

You'll need to either create a LPR printer on the Windows side (search microsoft support site for instructions) or add Samba client to the Gentoo system and use CUPS. |
