I added a HDD to my system.
Old setup:
hda - 40GB ATA-100
hda1 - /boot (ext2)
hda2 - swap
hda3 - /home (reiserfs)
hda4 - Windows 2000 (vfat)
15GB - ATA-66
hdb1 - / (reiserfs)
hdc - /mnt/cdrom (iso9660)
New setup
hda1 - /boot (ext2)
hda2 - RAID1 (with hdb2 on /dev/md1)
hda3 - /home (reiserfs)
hda4 - Windows 2000 (vfat)
hdb1 - RAID0 (with hdd1 on /dev/md0)
hdb2 - RAID1 (with hda2 on /dev/md1)
hdb3 - / (reiserfs)
hdc - /mnt/cdrom (iso9660)
hdd 3GB - ATA-33
hdd1 - RAID0 (with hdb1 on /dev/md0)
md0 - /var (reiserfs)
md1 - swap
I did this setup for speed. Now I have an error. I had many, but managed to iron out all but this one.
On init 0 or 6, just as it's going to shut down the raids, I get:
Code: | Saving device nodes... [ooops]
The tar command failed with error:
Semantics of -l option will change in the future releases
tar: Please use the --one-file-system option instead
tar: vcsa7: cannot stat: no such file or directory
tar: vcs7: cannot stat: no such file or directory
tar: vcc/a7: cannot stat: no such file or directory
tar: vcc/7: cannot stat: no such file or directory
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

Thanks

I have never seen this error before but it seems there is something wrong with your /dev directory. As you moved your root-partition to another harddrive - did you perhaps just copy alle the files including /dev and proc? If you did so then google how to move your root to a new disk and learn how to ommit this. |

I don't understand why it happened either because I copied the system by tar'ing and gzip'ing over to the vfat partition.
It's wierd, but it just went away by itself.
hee-bee-wee-bee-wah-bee-jah-bee, poof. Fixed
