Brightness & Contrast

I have found my laptop screen is so bright, and would like to reduce brightness and contrast by software (by hardware, I use Fn key and no problem). In Windows there is an option to adjust them in Screen Properties (my graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700), but I haven't found any similar in X or any desktop. I tried xgamma and kgamma, but i don't like it because cannot adjust brightness and contrast.

Is there an option in xorg.conf or another program or anything else to adjust that? My eyes will thank it ;-)
