Hi all. I submitted an ebuild for the Plone Collective's PasswordResetTool in bugzilla. However, the net-zope Gentoo devs are under a big workload, and require more user input as to the value of this package.

The PasswordResetTool allows Plone sites to change encrypted passwords from within the Plone site, rather than having to use the ZMI to change user ecrypted passwords. While, yes, you can maintain unencrypted passwords without this tool, for me the extra security of having an encrypted user-maintainable password DB is very valuable. So, if you feel it would be valuable to you, I ask that you chime in on the bug: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85295 .

Of course, if there is a Better Way(tm) to get the functionality and security I want that doesn't add to the net-zope devs workload, I'm all ears (eyes?). Thanks in advance.

New version is out: http://plone.org/products/passwordresettool . Note how the underscore how using encrypted passwords is a very important part of maintaining a secure Plone. I'm going to test and, if sucessful, add a new updated ebuild to the bug above - which was never accepted due to lack of user input :( .
