I've got the standard ftp client (net-ftp/ftp) installed.
the description and code describe that it supports SSL, with a SSL patch.
In practice, I've been able to verify that two separate gentoo installs, that the ebuild improperly sets up the SSL to the point where it can actually use the cyphers... I'm not 100% on the cause. for verification, I build a package i found called bsdftp, which ironically seems to implement SSL in the same style (laying it on top of an existing ftp client). However, the bsdftp implementation is able to use the cyphers.
Is anyone able to actually negotiate a SSL connection with the default installation of ftp? |
