|
|
I have installed gentoo-2.6.12-r6, and now gentoo-2.6.13. Under both kernels, emerged alsa-driver does not make the line-in volume from my TV-card audible. Line-in input can be heard faintly through my speakers, but it will not boost it to a level anyone can hear, I ahve all the volume settings maxed-out and I still cannot hear anything. Is anyone else having this problem? I am using the emu10k1 driver for an audigy2. |

ravalox,
There is no connection between the inputs on your sound cand and the outputs until you make one with some software.
All you can hear now is the 'crosstalk'. _________________ Regards,

Sorry, some more relevant information. I hear the 'crosstalk' when my TV-software is running. It unmutes the line-in and no matter what volume I have hte line-in set at I can only faintly hear the audio. At other times I hear nothing. |

I ahve tried tvtime and mythtv. Both look great, but they don't produce audio. I have checked the audio output of my TV card, and it's putting out audio the way it should, I get sound if I plug it into the microphone port or external speakers directly. But I need the line-in to work for purposes of recording. But at that point, it's an alsa problem. The audio is coming in just fine, I ahve a windows partition I can watch TV with and that uses this same hardware in the same configuration, its just a reboot away. |

ravalox,
You can only get input from a single channel at a time, so you need to select 'line in' for recording in your mixer, instead of mic. _________________ Regards,

taht's good intel, I am tinkering with it now, I switched to the capture view in the alsamixer and while there is a 'line2' there does not appear to be a regular line available for me to set in capture. I tried setting it with the space bar but that doesn't seem to work like the man page for alsamixer says it should. Can you help a brother out, how do I set it to record line-in? |
