Hi

I've tried to compile vanilla 2.6.13-rc5 last week, and I had to upgrade ipw2200 and company to latest version.

Code:
net-wireless/ipw2200-1.0.6
net-wireless/ipw2200-firmware-2.3
net-wireless/ieee80211-1.0.3
net-wireless/wireless-tools-28_pre8-r1

After solving a compilation problem thanks to this post

topic 365811

I noticed that I was no more able to get a DHCP address. Tried with two completely different APs (home and work). The strange things are:

  • Same configuration works perfectly with gentoo 2.6.12-r6 kernel
  • Network works assigning a static address in 2.6.13

[EDIT]With 2.6.13-rc6 static address doesn't work anymore[/EDIT]

I've searched the forums, google and the kernel mailing list, but I can't find anything. Any idea? I'll accept every suggestion. :D

Thanks in advance

I too am experiencing this problem. Weird, huh?

I'm rolling back to 2.6.12 and hoping it works.

same problem.... no solution found yet.... will go back to a 2.6.12 kernel (but you need a version >> 2.6.12-rc4 ... I think at least rc7 or 9 to compile the new ipw2200)

dhcp just hangs and goes in timeout (while the AP is convinced of having assigned an IP)

FIX (for me at least...)

upgrade to ipw2200-r2 ... (see changelog) and all goes perfect.
