hi!
i emerged mysql and apache. after configuration i wanted to start them.
/etc/init.d/mysql and /etc/init.d/apache are the default versions.
i can start the servers 'by hand' but
/etc/init.d/xxx start
does NOTHING and
/etc/init.d/xxx stop
says nothing is started.
this is very annoying i did put an echo statement after in the start function, but it doesn't get called ...
i can start /usr/sbin/apache and safe_mysqld without any problem and the configuration works...

Not sure what the problem is. Does running /sbin/depscan.sh make any difference? |

there where references in
/mnt/.init.d/failed/
i deleted them, and now everything works. (there was an error the first time i started the scripts)
this should be in the documentation!!! (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rc-scripts.xml)
BTW: why the hell is in mounted in /mnt, it should definately go into /var ... (FHS: http://www.pathname.com/fhs/2.2/fhs-3.11.html)
there should be an "/etc/init.d/xxx cleanup" to remove this (zap does nothing in this department)
Thanks! |
