Hello,

I just installed an Epson Perfection 2450 flatbed scanner by USB. I am having a rather odd problem. When I first installed it, scanimage -L showed it and my TV card. I ran XSane and got only my TV card. It turns out that the OS doesn't seem to be able to remember for more than about a minute that the scanner is plugged in, and then I have to turn it off and back on.

For example, I'll reboot the scanner and scanimage -L will show it just fine. I'll start XSane immediately and XSane will see it just fine, and maybe get one scan in if I'm fast. But by the next scan, or even by the time I hit scan on the first one if I'm not fast, it is unable to communicate with the device, and scanimage -L shows only the TV card again.

What could be causing this problem? I appreciate any advice. I'm sorry to be so short on specifics but I'm not even sure where to look for info.

Thank you,
Stephen

I had trouble with my Epson Perfection 2400 Photo USB until I started using the Epson (Epkowa) frontend and backend which can be found here.
