I have been trying to isntall gentoo, but right now I am stuck at choosing a kernel, when I use # emerge gentoo-sources and a kernel is automatically downloaded, but for some reason it is not working. Sorry, I dont have any more infomartion or details that might help besides this is a stage 3 isntall on a 686 machine. Thanks! |

Did you configure your network and make sure it was working before chrooting? You also need to copy your /etc/resolv.conf over to /mnt/gentoo/etc before chrooting... |

yeah I did. I jsut entered:
cp -L /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf
and it doesnt seem to work. On my second try at isntalling gentoo I get his other related error:
!!! Rsync has not successfully finished. It is recommended that you keep
!!! trying or that you use the 'emerge-webrsync' option if you are unable
!!! to use rsync due to firewall or other restrictions. This should be a
!!! temporary problem unless complications exist with your network
!!! (and possibly your system's filesystem) configuration.
And when I try web-rsync --sync I get all tehis stuff about no md5s on the mirror or something. Thanks though! |
