External USB floppy

Hello everyone.

Well, I have an external floppy on my laptop and I just can access it via /dev/sda...
I tried a fdformat /dev/sda but but I got an error "invalide argument"

Is it possible to bind my external floppy to the /dev/fd0?
(So that I can also use the fdformat /dev/fd0u1722 for more space)

What is the output in /var/log/messages when you plugin your external floppy? Do you have /dev/floppy/0?
