are you still able to read DVDs? I'm having a similar problem...I basically got the same error message and it's the first time for me using the device to burn as well.

Hi G2k

I've read your thread, but I am not sure if we have the same problem.
I tried a random DVD and mlplayer played it without problems.

I think my problem is the software probably "growisofs".

Code:
growisofs
-----------------------
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/dev/fd/0 of=/dev/hdd obs=32k seek=0'
:-[ PERFORM OPC failed with SK=4h/ASC=09h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error

what is /dev/fd/0 here? The floppy device? I have now floppy installed!

Where can I find manuals /howtos to burn a dvd from commandline?

Thanks,
Calvin
