My laptop only has usb 1.1 so I need to use firewire (its a sony vaio pcg-fx250).
I cant get it to mount with firewire though.

That is part of my dmesg, obviously it seems something is wrong at the bottom. Any ideas? |

after loading vfat or some modules for file system and modules for codepage, try it again.

I already have vfat going. I have no problem when I use usb, it auto-mounts easily and I can access/read/write all files on the hdd, its just slow because of usb 1.1. The problem is with firewire.
I dont know if it matters, but its a smaller firewire slot on a laptop. All of my other linux boxes handled it with ease. |

In your dmesg, however, i cannot look at the message of vfat loaded.
Did you build the module in the kernel?
