|

Hi,
Looks like my system isn't able to determine my AGP hardware. Actually, i don't know why. I've compiled all AGPGART modules, NVAGP runs fine ...
Code: | # cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Disabled
AGP initialization failed, please check the ouput
of the 'dmesg' command and/or your system log file
for additional information on this problem. |

On my systems I've got agp (agpgart) support compiled into the kernel. perhaps in your case nvidias agp support is preempting the kernel support and not allowing it to load. You should get more output like...
Code: |
Linux agpgart interface v0.101 (c) Dave Jones
agpgart: Detected an Intel 865 Chipset.
agpgart: AGP aperture is 64M @ 0xf8000000
agpgart: Found an AGP 3.0 compliant device at 0000:00:00.0.
agpgart: X tried to set rate=x12. Setting to AGP3 x8 mode.
agpgart: Putting AGP V3 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 8x mode
agpgart: Putting AGP V3 device at 0000:01:00.0 into 8x mode
|
I'd make sure agp is loading before the nvidia module and see if that helps _________________ --

Guess that shouldn't be the problem. On my last system i was able to _decide_ (xorg.conf) on startup which AGP module i want to use. Compiling AGP support into the kernel or autoloading the module would break this feature. The error must be something different. _________________ Urban Discipline! |

Ok, as i see my AGPGART submodules (via-agp for me) aren't linked to the main module in any way. I've read something about _above_ & _below_ modules in modules.conf man and now i'm somewhat confused. What exactly is the difference between these two modes? Would someone please be so kind and post a working config here?
Thanks... _________________ Urban Discipline! |

I don't get it. My agpgart alias is set, my agpgart submodules are compiled and installed ... But agpgart seems to be unable to load its submodules on its own. A friend of mine sent me his modprobe.conf and only the agpgart alias is set, same agp kernel modules configuration as mine. It _should_ work ...
Please, i need help! ![Shocked 8O](images/smiles/icon_eek.gif) _________________ Urban Discipline! |
