Is there a way to make ur own livecd? I bascially want to compile the system i want for my laptop but run it off a CD since i need windows for school, dual is my last resort but id like to make a livecd first... |

yes. you need to use initrd and some other crap i believe. i know theres guides for making bootable CDs out there, might want to read the LFS guides, they talk about it a bit, youll probably do a lot of reading before you acctually do anything. i believe the principale behind it is mouting a iso, building the system on that, then burning it to a CD... |

If you want to use Gentoo here is one method. The livecd distros (Knoppix, Gnoppix, Whoppix, etc) have other methods for customizing the livecds. |

thanks i found that mini-howto just recently and its exactly wat i need, i want to build an exact system for my laptop. one more question is it possible to boot linux over a network because i dont want to burn X amount of cds till i find a good working version. |
