I was planning to give 4.2.99 a try, so this is good news for me.
Let's see what happens to my fonts this time... |

I'm using XFree 4.2.1, and I was wondering: How difficult will upgrading be? Will anything have to be recompiled (except for X itself)? KDE? Terminal apps? GDM? I already have FreeType2 up and running, but I like using old fonts for my terminals... will I still have that? _________________ Tactless

You will only need to install X, if your fonts naff up however - you may need to re merge freetype and what not. _________________ a.k.a port001

The new X supports transparent Mousecursors and Mouseshaddows. Looks realy cool. If you are already using XFree-4.2.99.xxx the new X will only bring you more stability (I think) |

In related news, anyone know how to completely disallow that feature, it's SO annoying to look at IMHO. |

edit /usr/X11/lib/X11/icons/index.theme (think thats right path) and change inherit=whatever to inherit=default. _________________ a.k.a port001

Hi
Just emerged XFree-4.3, wondered what the new mouse pointers looked like, but, surprise surprise, they didn't change.
I thought those were the new default pointers, if it isn't so, what needs to be done? |

in the default dir you have to edit the index file to point inherit the theme you want. for example inherit=whiteglass |
