I finally got wireless working. But there's one problem left.
AFter a while of being connected to the wireless hub, it seems as though the wireless connection just stops working. I don't get any errors, and ifconfig still reports everything as normal and as if it hasn't changed. But I am unable to ping anything on my local network or on the internet. A simple /etc/init.d/net.wlan0 restart fixes the problem. But I find I am doing this every hour or so.
Is there a setting or something that I need to add to keep the connection live and well? Could someone help me troubleshoot this?
The info I do know:
Kernel 2.6.x (sorry...i'm at work)
Wireless card is a D-link DWL-650 rev.P using Prism.
I'm using the HostAP modules and firmware loading scripts and wireless-tools.
When I restart net.wlan0, I do get a warning about being compiled against Wireless Extensions 18 while I am using 17...and they recommend 18. When I get home, I'll post the exact message. Maybe it's related.
Any theories? _________________ -- Coplan

My guess is that there is some setting to control the reauthorization with the hub.
I noticed that if I open a shell connection to my server, I don't loose connection at all. I'm guessing because the server is checking back constantly with my laptop that the hub is fully aware that my laptop is still active.
I'll experiment some more. I'll let you know if I figure anything out. _________________ -- Coplan
