Hello.

I'm interested in the 64bit PPC architecture (aka: G5), but would require a GNU/Linux (Gentoo) environment. What is the current status on this environment?

I read on old post, but did not see anything recently posted.

Thanks.

Just to see what packages are availabe go http://packages.gentoo.org/, search for particular package and check availability in ppc64 column.

For me the only big deal is lacking mozilla/firefox and openoffice.

Yes, that's a nuisance. In Gnome, epiphany works, but it's a bit flaky and will become unresponsive from time to time. Apart from that: many packages compile without problems, even if they don't have the ppc64 keyword, just try it out.
