Cgoban opens a blank window

When I launch Cgoban2 (http://kgs.kiseido.com) it only opens a blank window. I guess my Java is not functioning properly. Anyone else encountered this?

No problem with cgoban2 here running with Blackdown JDK. Have you emerged cgoban2 or installed it from kiseido?

I used 'emerge cgoban2'.

I noticed that this only happens in E17. In Windowmaker it works fine.

UPDATE: only in the older version of E17. The current build works fine.
