Hi
Kind of an obscure question which is pretty hard to find an answer for given what keywords I have to use. When I am editing text inside of KDE, I have to hit shift, then quote twice (or tilde depending on which i want) to get it to come up, and it isn't the "right" kind of quote.

Any ideas?

Maybe you should try adding this to the Input Device section of your xorg.conf
Code:

     Option "XkbVariant"  "nodeadkeys"

You shouldn't have to press the button twice anymore. I'm not sure if this fixes the problem that it isn't the right kind of quote.
That, however, could also be a kde problem which can most likely be solved by playing around with some options in the control center.
