hello dudes, I've got here a Firewall Netscreen 5XT, and I'm looking for any tool that I can use to monitor bandwidth usage per client (kinda like mrtg does).

The story is that I need to identify the coworker who's sucking bandwith by it's ip, reach him, unplug his machine and then kill him

Really.. let me know what should I do or look for.. I don't know where to begin

TIA!

P.S. looking in the router menu it seems that supports snmp and syslog.. but the only thing I can do so far is using mrtg with snmp....

Well... for a Linux router you would just use iptraf.

Yeah I just googled it; not sure why you're asking on a Gentoo forum...

Damn.. I forgot to post directly in Off the wall forum

I don't mean to be rude but I have seen a lot of post with your words (and not my posts) and long flame wars (and I don't want to start one or discuss about it).

If any moderator thinks the post does not fit here he'll move it to Off the wall, don't you think?

bye

Last post was mostly a followup in case anyone was confused about why you were quoting text that no longer existed.

Even if this were OTW, I'd be confused about why you wouldn't ask this on a more general networking forum; perhaps even one specific to your hardware.

What do you mean?

I like to ask the questions on Gentoo forums because they're great and even if the answer aren't here there's someone with some good advice! (like for example: hey u could look at www.somegeneralgoodnetworksite.com)

About the flamewars.. nevermind.. drop that

we could continue the discussion via PM if you want to clarify this.. as it looks like we're going OT

regards

Try to find whether or not net Netscreen gives out appropriate informations via SNMP

If not - monitor the complete traffic to/from the box with ntop
