do you both succeed in running the distributed.net client for a long period of time? On this task my pc hangs (although it doesn't do so under win2k).
Same problem with the ab initio package GAMESS. It does not work when both processors are used at the same time.

Best regards

Hello,

no the system performs well for a minute or 5 after starting the cpu intensive tasks and then stalls. Is this a heat related problem??? If it is, then I do not understand why it was not a problem under win2k

I have just installed the 1.04 bios to check if this resolves some of the problems.

Kernel: 2.4.19-pre9
Mem: 512 Mb registered APACER
2* MP1600+

First, It's really interesting to see that I am not alone. But WTF do you have a Tyan Tiger MP board with XP CPUs????

Well, most important hardware on my desktop is:
  • Tyan Tiger MP
  • 2x Athlon MP CPU 1500+
  • 1x 1 GB ECC DDR RAM Registered
  • GeForce2 GTS 64MB DDR, and others
Cheers,
Christian Parpart.
p.s.: SMP rocks

imho the (older) 1.6 and 1.8 XPs are equal to MPs, just cheaper... later, AMD added a SMP lock to XPs

Code:

Cheers,
Christian Parpart.
