xterm 204 doesn't run under xfce 4.2 / also huge titlebars

today i upgraded both xorg-x11 (to 6.8.2-r4) and xterm (to 204) and xterm just hangs under xfce 4.2, maxing out cpu. i have to kill it. using plain startx, xterm starts but all the titlebars under plain x are now huge.

edit: i just downgraded to xterm-200-r3 and i am now able to run xterm under xfce 4.2 again, so there is a problem with xterm 204. the titlebars remain huge as pictured using plain x, so there is something going on with those widgets using xorg-x11 6.8.2-r4.

switching my LC_ALL back to C from en_US.utf8 restores the titlebars.
