After emerging nvidia-glx i type modprobe nvidia and i get the FATAL error

Anyone have any ideas on what to do? :/ |

Did you compile your kernel with a different compiler version as nvidia-kernel/glx?
Try to re-compile your kernel and re-emerge nvidia-kernel. |

I have the same problem. I have gentoo-sources kernel version 2.6.12-r10. I already enable MTRR and NVidia frame buffer. lspci is able to detect the NVIDIA video card:
Code: | 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 5
Memory at f4000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64M]
Memory at b0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
Memory at f8000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [68] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [78] #10 [0001]

This is the contents of /proc/mtrr:
Code: | reg00: base=0x00000000 ( 0MB), size=2048MB: write-back, count=1
reg01: base=0x80000000 (2048MB), size= 512MB: write-back, count=1
reg02: base=0xa0000000 (2560MB), size= 256MB: write-back, count=1
reg03: base=0x100000000 (4096MB), size=1024MB: write-back, count=1
reg04: base=0x140000000 (5120MB), size= 256MB: write-back, count=1
reg05: base=0xb0000000 (2816MB), size= 256MB: write-combining, count=2

nvidia driver isn't compatible with nvidiafb. You should disable it in your kernel and use vesafb instead. |

Yes. Disabling nvidiafb makes things work now. Thanks a lot! |
