I am using GNOME as my desktop environment. hald manages the two optical drives. This setup generally works fine. However, there is one thing I don't understand. In my fstab it says:

/dev/hdb /media/cdrecorder auto user,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
/dev/hda /media/cdrecorder1 auto user,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

although /dev/hda is the master and /dev/hdb is the slave. So it _should_ really be

dev/hda /media/cdrecorder auto user,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
/dev/hdb /media/cdrecorder1 auto user,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

Is there any config file that can tweak this?

No, I don't have pmount or supermount enabled

BTW: Fedora does it the right way ... confused

Isn't it udev that assigns the names to your devices? A custom rule could help out; see http://www.reactivated.net/writing_udev_rules.html.
