ok well i first wanted the kdm login screen but everytime id try to login the screen would flash and itd ask for my password again so i said i need this thing to login so i can install wifi drivers (that i cant get to work) so i stop the kdm and just startx every time i reboot but now i startx and it says nvidia (the nvidia symbol like its supposed to do) and then it says waiting for X server to shut down. any ideas? i think i might have it setup the wrong way (acx modules) or my init scripts maybe have something too much in them? ok well id like some help ty

Could be loads of stuff breaking here, I suggest you try if it's:

Problems with the permissions of various temporary directories (for ICE and X for example).
    A broken X-session in /etc/X11/Sessions/.

EDIT:
ok well i can start kdm now but when i login WITH a normal user not root and the right password(because it didnt say login failed) i click login and the screen flashes and goes back to kdm asking for my pass kde still wont start
