|
|
Hi,
I just emerged the update to zlib, 1.1.4-r1, and it apparently borked many shared library paths.
Trying to use SSH, or even boot into kdm results in the following error:
Code: |
<application>: error while loading shared libraries: libz.so.1 cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
|
where <application> is whatever I try to run (like SSH). I do have access to the directories, and can even use emerge.
I searched and couldn't find a reference here, and I'm sorta stuck.
I've tried env-update, ldconfig, rebooting, and even re-emerged zlib-1.1.4 and then 1.1.4-r1 with no dice either way.
I'm running 1.4_rc2 with ARCH="~x86" (which is bound to have problems, I know, but how am I gonna learn? ).
How do I solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information please let me know, and i'll try to provide it to you.

Never mind. Fixed it!
Apparently it was missing a symlink in /usr/lib. The link was libz.so.1 and linked to libz.so.1.1.4.
AND, if you have distcc running, it will run and complete in my case, but not create the valid links or lib files.
Anyway, disabled distccd, commented out any entries in /etc/make.conf and emerged it again. Whaddya know? It works now! |

Nah, I didn't even think about it when it happened.
But you're more than welcome to take the credit for it! Assuming of course that no one has done it already! |
