I keep reading "upstream 2.6.13" near the patch 4105 for the USR 997902 (r8169 driver) NIC
What does this mean?
and can anyone confirm ifthis drive works before I insert it again and give it another try ?
(right now it lies there, suffering from dust and corrodation because the 2.6.12-r4 gentoo-sources kernel could not manage to getmy NIC to work _________________ Programming today is a race between Software Engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof Programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots.

It means the patch has been pushed upstream to the kernel developer(s) who are responsible for that driver.
It is not in the mainline kernel (yet), but expected to go in vanilla 2.6.13. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /
