I recently moved a 3DFX Voodoo 3 to an old computer I recently aquired and refurbished. Problem is, with DRI enabled the system lags and draws stuff improperly or unfinished on screen. In /var/log/Xorg.0.log (waay down there) I can see repeating occurrences of "Resetting FIFO" that I didn't have on the other system (now staying with a (hopefully) pleased new owner).

Googling reveals one or two users with similar problems that were attributed to driver problems regarding memory timings (for the graphics board). It seems it should be a thing of the past yet here this problem is, bugging me.

I've tried changing settings, compiling tdfx as a module, using binary glide-v3 and stable as well as unstable x11-drm.

Hopefully this post will get spidered so someone else from a LAN far, far away will give me some pointers.
