|

I have an new world iMac 15" flatpanel machine that I'm installing gentoo onto. I have not yet built my kernel (I'm doing a stage 2 install). There is no underscore (cursor) to indicate where my insertion point is while editing text from the command line or inside the console-based text editor. This makes it very difficult to perform the installation! Does anyone have a solution to this problem? |

I'm also getting framebuffer problems. It begins when I switch to another terminal, using an option-Fkey combo. The screen refuses to scroll up for me. I have to switch to another terminal and then back again to see what text is being sent to stdout. I've also tried passing various video settings using VGA= and VIDEO= statements to the kernel without any success. |

I was able to solve both problems by passing the following options to the kernel while booting from the Gentoo install CD: "G4 video=ofonly:1024x768@60". Hope this info can be helpful to someone else. |
