I have a computer that is connected to the internet by a wireless network.
I'm wondering if it's still possible to install Gentoo by downloading packages off the internet. I'm using a Belkin USB Network Adapter.
The reason I have concerns is that on Windows, it requires its own software to be installed and running for the internet connection to exist (as far as I can tell). Can the Gentoo LiveCD detect the USB wireless network adapter and get an internet connection from it?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find it with search.
Thanks.

Please paste the output of
That will tell us two things:
1. If the hardware is detected.
2. If you're getting an IP address.

If you look at Chapter 3 of the handbook it is (... well it may be) possible to do this. After typing ifconfig ping google to check and see if you're up. If it doesn't work automagically run the net-setup script and go through the menus. In principle this should work but I've found wireless support in Linux to be subpar.

Hi.
You should use instead
This will show you any interface that is not configured. _________________ Jorge.
