Well, we are still getting the x86 arch team put together, and we could use some arch testers to help with the work that is going to be thrown our way. You can read more about what an arch tester is expected to help us with at: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/amd64/tests/index.xml I realize that's AMD64 specific, but we are adopting the same system, and hparker is helping us with that.

If you think you'd like to help out, please contact hparker AT gentoo DOT org and join #gentoo-x86. Check out our bugs and see if there is anything you can help with.

Thanks.

Just an update...we still need arch testers for the x86 team. Now we have our own documentation for you to read over, which can be found at: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/x86/arch-testers-faq.xml That covers everything I could think of that would be asked. If you still have questions, you can join the channel and ask, email me (or hparker or tsunam), or ask here.

Thanks :)

I think we already do. However, we still need more of you hmm that sounds like it calls for the Uncle Sam poster just with Mark on it instead.

Feel free to pm me here, email: hparker, halcy0n, and or tsunam @ gentoo.org or pop into #gentoo-x86 for more information.

/me prods cokehabit with the cattle prod

At least with the x86 group we don't start you on the quiz til we're sure you'll stick around and continue to work. Most people don't realize its actually work til they come in and we expect them to actually do something.

oh and are you still using ubuntu? ^.^;;

oooooooohhhhhh! Handbags! I didn't want to leave the arch testing team (in fact i miss seeing dang all the time :( ) I just felt there would be no use me staying if I was using ubuntu. Coming back, I now realise how brilliantly integrated GNOME is to their distro, i miss the Ubuntu desktop alot

Oh no you don't.

You just got elected as user representative, and you're already pining for Ubuntu?

i still have ubuntu. I use ubuntu in gentoo and gentoo in ubuntu as chroots so i am usually in both no matter which i am using.

But it is pretty stupid to deny the fact that GNOME and Ubuntu work brilliantly together because they almost built Ubuntu around GNOME. You want to know the one thing that really annoys me though? Half the programs i emerge dont end up up in the menu and i've never understood why

Going offtopic, but I have never had that problem. All applications that have a GUI seem to create menu shortcuts, and I use KDE. It shouldn't matter as shortcuts are created identically no matter what DE you are using. Which programs failed to show up in the menu?

In fact, the nmap emerge created a needless shortcut in my user menu, when users do not have permission to run network tools on my machine.

about 10 programs have failed to do that but the ones that come instantly to mind are lbreakout2, bmpx and google earth. considering i spend half my time playing lbreakout2 it resignated me to using gentoo in a chroot most of the time
