Hi,
This probably isn't a Gentoo specific problem, but it's kinda weird and I wondered if anyone here had come across anything like it.
I have a network of (mostly) Gentoo boxes, running NFS. On one of these boxes (a P2 era Celeron 500) I have a copy of the "Eagle" circuit design package. This is commercial non-open-source on a free "educational/evaluation" license.
I recently upgraded that machine from kernel 2.6.11.7 (vanilla) to 2.6.12.5 (vanilla).
I now find that Eagle is unable to open schematic or layout files from NFS, although it can open other files, and if I copy the schematics and layout from NFS to a local drive then Eagle opens them fine. Eagle is the only application I've found this problem with so far.
I rebooted back into the older kernel and the problem goes away. The kernel options are identical (apart from a stray but inactive "devfs" on the one that does work).
The server is fully up to date (and is using the 2.6.12.5 kernel) |
