A month or so ago, new files magically appeared on my desktop (from being downloaded) and CD's automatically mounted (and appeared on my desktop), and USB joysticks automatically loaded the joystick kernel module. I had reached nerdvana. Now, I haven't changed my kernel for a few months, so I've obviously installed a new package or two that's killed all this beautiful automatic functionality. I don't know where it came from, so I don't know what to back out. Can anyone clue me in on where to get started? _________________ Acts 17:28, "For in Him we live, and move, and have our being." |

By telling us what desktop environment you are using, and the versions of all its packages. _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

Emerging it brought back the ability for USB sticks to appear on my desktop.
I run Gnome 2.10. There's no way I'm listing all of that.
I noticed that directory contents *do* update, it's just that they're slow.
Still no word on the joystick driver, though. _________________ Acts 17:28, "For in Him we live, and move, and have our being." |
