Does anyone know the best way to play quicktime movies in Linux? xine, mplayer, and vlc aren't cutting it for me. I have 'quicktime' in my global use flags. I tried installing Quicktime 7 with wine and it failed.

Anyone got a better solution?

UPDATE: Quicktime 6.5.2 installed in wine but is totally unusable and screws up my X session.

Hm... according to emerge -pv mplayer there is no quicktime USE-Flag for mplayer. Maybe you should try to add win32codecs to your USE and emerge mplayer again. I'm not 100% sure if this is the solution, but I can play .mov's in mplayer without any problems and have win32codecs enabled. It's also the only USE-Flag for mplayer where quicktime can be hidden. Good luck :) .

I'm using win32codecs in my global USE as well.

These are my flags for mplayer. Maybe it helps you.

My use flags arent so much of a problem but thanks anyway. I switched to using ~x86 win32codecs. Hopefully thatll make a difference. I'm still looking for a good solution with wine.
